What have we been up to since I last posted?...Well, The kids both had their first check ups with their new pediatrician. We started with Baby because he has ear tubes and many issues. Well, he is 75% for height and he can't hear out of his left ear, so..... referral to ENT and begin all this crap again. Baby has always had issues with his hearing and speech and I had noticed his speech has been declining, well now we know why. Get those ears cleaned out, hearing reinstalled and he will be sounding like a Texan cowboy in no time.
Funny event at the Doctors. During the exam, the Doctor explained that she needed to look in baby's underwear. The face on Baby was priceless! A half lopsided grin with a "I don't know if I like this part" After the Doctor had asked him to cough a couple of time and he was getting dressed Baby stated" I'm not sure if I like her looking at my privates!"
Next was firstborns turn, 95% for height, no surprises there, she is only 4 inches away from me! Well, it comes to the underwear thing again and Baby was also in the exam room at this time. We made him turn and face the wall to give his sister privacy. then, in all innocence Baby loudly pronounced" It's OK. I have always wanted to see my sisters privates!"
I quickly turned to look at the Doctor, Was she laughing ?or at the least please let her have slight smile? or was she about to loose her lunch at this perverted family from NY? Thankfully she was grinning. ........Phew! Guess she has now heard it all!

Boys
What are little boys made of?
What are little boys made of?
Frogs and snails
And puppy-dogs' tails,
That's what little boys are made of.

Movie Tavern
Another great weekend completed in Texas. Saturday was a nice lazy pool day. Firstborn had a play date and we all hung around in the pool, had a BBQ and went for ice cream. The perfect idyllic summer day. Sunday was cloudy and storms were approaching therefore we went to the movies. Now, this is something new to me coming from NY, no not going to the movies, but a movie tavern. It is set up like a regular movie theatre but every other row is taken out and replaced with a Bar. You can order drinks and food while you sit back and watch the movie. What More can you want!!! Alcohol to get you through yet another kids movie, in 3D no less.
Actually we saw G-Force which was pretty good. Should I be scared that I like movies with talking Guinea Pigs in them? What happened to the R rated horror movies I loved so much?what happened to the back row make out session hoping my parents didn't show up for the same movie? Oh well, we all change and this weekend we may go see Aliens in the Attic...another round please!!

Getting to know the neighbourhood
Well, it has been 1 month since we arrived in Texas. Feelings so far? Love it! I, of course miss our friends and family but all in all the experience and adjustment has gone smoothly. What have we done so far? Have found the local library, very busy, smaller then we are used to but very nice. The kids and I all became members, checked out books and have already been late returning them so no changes there. This past weekend was very exciting. Our first visit to a real Texas ranch. We set off with excitement in out hearts and even listened to some country music on the way. This was difficult for soul mate who is more used to listening to Black Eyed Peas not eating them. We arrived, and boy it was no disappointment. Cactus, dust, cattle, deer, horses and real live cowboys! Is there anything more hot then a good looking man in tight jeans, stetson, spurs, cowboy boots riding his trusty horse? ( I could think of other things he could be riding but we won't go there!).

Baby had an absolute blast, looking for snakes and coming up to me asking for baggies to take home the bugs he found. Unfortunately mama could just not get her hand on those baggies. Darn it! He also made a new Friend of Black Lab, Halle.
Firstborn enjoyed herself to with the horse riding etc but she did get a little bored looking for deer at 11pm with a spotlight on the pick up. OMG, I think I might be a redneck. Thankfully, there was a beautiful newborn present to keep firstborn happy.
There is nothing like sitting around the fire pit , listening to the occasional whinny of a horse or mooing of a cow looking for it's calf, hearing the gigantic crickets chirping. I wanted to get out my pioneer dress and cowboy boots , cook brisket and start putting my washing through the wringer, but then I realized the only cowboy boots I have were purchased in NY, the closest dress I have to pioneer woman is a little cotton spaghetti strap number, I don't know where to get a wringer and I am a vegetarian! Oh, well it was good while it lasted.

The trip
I know, I know, I have not made an entry in so long but I do feel I have a good excuse. I will bring you up to date and we can start from there, be warned it is going to be a long entry.....
Well, here we are in good 'ole Texas! We left NY on Friday June 12th. Firstborn was already home with us because due to another incident at her wonderful school I did not send her back after Tuesday (that could be a whole other entry). We were all excited, we had the snacks loaded in the car, we had the cooler with all the drinks, we had bags of activities to keep our kids entertained and possibly Bebop (Gramps). We were unable to fit everything into the moving truck so after claiming dramatically that I couldn't live without anything we gave a few choice pieces to our friends and neighbours. Soul mate gave up a lawn mower and a grill with a promise that this Fathers day would be one to remember. The kids gave up their desks. Me?....well......I forget
So anyway we leave at 6.00pm, feeling slightly like the Beverley Hillbillies with the dog, gramps , kids and a big old Penske. Our goal was Cincinnati Ohio. We sang songs, we told jokes, we had packed the 2 way radios so cell phone calls were rampant, we laughed, we cried, we whined , we moaned and we slept! 2am we were in our hotel in Blue Ash, Ohio.
Saturday morning, goal North Little Rock, Arkansas. We had a filling breakfast at Bob Evans, which took way too long and did not get on the road until 11am. Soul mate was not a happy camper and this is how the day went. Looking at the darling TomTom (Samantha I owe you one!) we knew we just were not going to handle another 10 hours of driving especially when literally 8 minutes after leaving Bob Evans I was being asked if we were there yet, the DVD player had broken and we were drawing an imaginary line down the back seat which we had already crossed over several times resulting in "brat and meanie". Oh it was going to be a long one! ( is cracking open a beer at 11am while driving wrong?)
Cancelled the hotel in Little rock and planned to get to Memphis Tennesee. This was accomplished by 6.30pm at night. Found a hotel that would take dogs, had dinner, swimming and hit the hay for the last leg of our adventure.
Sunday morning wake up call for 6.00 am, on the road by 7am and excitement was brewing, Today we would be pulling in our driveway!!! Making great time as it was a Sunday with no traffic. Suddenly, it got darker, and darker, and darker, and holy Sh@%! have you ever been to one of those water parks where there is a huge barrel that dumps gallons and gallons of water on your head? Well, I was driving thru one of those in Memphis. I was leading the whole way with Penske following. I could only see 2 white lines in front, the winds were 80 miles an hour (no kidding), crawled to an exit and waited the storm out at a gas station. Advised by the gas attendant that this was series of 3 hurricanes and the third was to hit by noon. Gulp! we got outta of there asap and headed to Dallas, Tx. Due to the fact that I had also packed my cell phone charger we made a stop the day before and bought another set of 2 way radios, which made the drive go by a lot quicker, especially when every time baby got on the radio he always addressed his father as "whassup my brother!!!" Finally 6.00pm after 11 hours on the road we pulled in to our new abode. Wow! some trip, what a house and let the adventure begin.......

Packing
OK, I don't know if anyone is left out there in cyber space since it has been so long since I have posted but I am going to continue anyway
as if I am standing on the stage at Kodak Theatre preaching to the American Idol fan base! 2 days left to Texas and oh boy what has been happening. Here is a quick and brief update... deep breath.. here we go.....Got the 26 foot moving van Tuesday, soul mate and I had dentist cleanings, apparently for some reason I must be stressed as I am grinding my teeth more than usual and have worn away a filling that now has to be replaced Back to the dentist Thursday. Soul mate's teeth are perfect as he like to keep reminding me. Dress up in business attire and get on the road to a work lunch only to have boss cancel . Incidentally boss knew early in the morning lunch was cancelled and forgot to mention this. Got a call from the bank in Texas to inform us that the papers we had frantically got notarized on Saturday and next day aired to Texas, had mistakenly by them, been dated wrong and needed to be redone. ... ran back to the bank to get new papers notarized and Fed Exed to Texas. Called vet for heart worm and flea drops, only to be advised Dog has not had a vet appointment for over a year so dog rushed to the vet at 2.30pm...$232 later that was taken care off. Meanwhile I am supposed to be working and training a new nurse, Poor girl she must think that our house is an utter insane asylum. Kids picked up from school, drove one to a play date second to karate then a play date. Start loading the truck while no kids around. kids return, put to bed, one crying because she is going to miss her friends.. close truck, have a soak in the hot tub and go to bed......and that was just Tuesday!!!!!!. Today....Wednesday I think.... call from Texas the house is officially ours and keys were given to our realtor...what house? .....Texas where?..... What is my name?....... Why am I drooling?...Brylin anyone?????
